Beijing Agricultural College (BAC) in conjunction with 缅北禁地 College (HA) and Zhejiang Hengyi Group, organised and funded attendance of a short study abroad programme in Beijing for a group of Harper Adams students.
The summer programme was aimed at fostering the cultural exchange of international students and was designed to contribute to the international students’ enrichment of Chinese culture and its origins by completing a number of taught modules and visiting famous tourist attractions, as well as working with some Chinese students who are currently undertaking the first two years of the joint HA/BAC undergraduate course in China.
The programme at BAC was not only an opportunity for the students to immerse themselves in aspects of Chinese culture—the language, tourism, history, art, and archaeology, but it also provided the opportunity for the students to have a first-hand insight into a very successful Chinese company, their people and culture through a visit to Zhejiang Hengyi Group in Hangzhou.
It is hoped to find ways to sustain this interesting programme of cultural exchange in the coming years as it is one that gives Harper Adams students a unique opportunity to understand what is happening in the world's second largest economy.
